HEREFORD, Ariz., July 9, 2026 – Cochise Strong wants Cochise County to celebrate America’s 250th all year along with the rest of the country. They’re sponsoring a fun and educational contest – giving away $250 per month, plus $50 per week in prizes. Each civic literacy quiz you pass enters you into both drawings. Referring your friends increases your chances of winning.
Each quiz challenges participants to answer six out of 10 questions correctly, encouraging learning while offering an exciting opportunity to win. Quiz access and more details – including the benefits of this mental exercise and why civic literacy is so important for our community – are available at CochiseStrong.org, where you can also find nonpartisan ideas for individuals and organizations to keep America’s 250th celebrations going all year.
“Hyper-partisanship, rage-bait, and social media echo chambers weaken our community,” says Chris Stevens, founder and director of Cochise Strong. “This is a once-in-a-generation commemoration of the things that make us strong. We get to celebrate things like our founding ideals and values, freedoms and rights, liberty and justice for all.”
Multiple studies by respected organizations – including the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, American Council of Trustees and Alumni, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation – reveal significant gaps in Americans’ knowledge of government, history, and constitutionally protected rights. With concerns rising about declining civic literacy, this contest aims to unite and inspire all generations with the core principles enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights.
Stevens adds, “If you listen to Big Media or allow social media algorithms to be your guide, we’re supposed to hate our neighbors because they see things differently than we do. How does that help Cochise County? I think the good Samaritan had a better idea – he loved his neighbor who saw things differently.”
This initiative encourages learning while offering an exciting opportunity to win – something the whole county can get behind. In addition to the cash prizes being offered by Cochise Strong, business sponsors also have the opportunity to contribute prizes. Sponsorships are available for only $17.76 to strengthen community participation in honor of America’s 250th!
