Warning: Quizzes May Exercise Your Mind!
Taking part in Cochise Strong Quizzes offers real value for your brain health (more than prize money!) - they're essentially workouts for your mind. Doing them regularly boosts memory, improves focus, helps you make better choices, and actually exercises your critical thinking skills rather than passively receiving information.
Memory and Brain Health: Digging into your memory to recall answers strengthens neural pathways. This enhances memory retention, cognitive flexibility, and staying mentally sharp as you age.
Critical Thinking: Not all quiz questions are created equal, but when you face ones that nudge your critical thinking muscles instead of just regurgitating facts, your brain gets pushed harder. You learn to spot patterns faster, connect the dots, and make reasoned calls. That translates to better problem-solving in everyday situations where there isn't always a clear answer.
Concentration and Decision-Making: Quizzes require you to focus, which builds your ability to concentrate for longer periods. Having to weigh options and choose the correct answer also exercises your logical thinking and builds confidence in your ability to figure things out.
Mood and Connection: Getting things right releases dopamine, which can lift your spirits and reduce stress. On top of that, Cochise Strong brings people together and encourages community, providing friendly rivalry and shared fun.
Celebrate Civic Literacy for America's 250th!
Test Your Civic Literacy
There are three quiz levels - Novice, Proficient, and Leader. Each quiz has 10 questions and requires six correct answers to pass. All three quizzes have some easy questions and some more challenging ones. As you progress, you'll find the quizzes increasingly thought-provoking. Each quiz you pass gets you additional entries into our weekly and monthly prize drawings.
Why Is This Important?
Civic illiteracy causes frustration and anger among citizens who recognize potential problems but don't know how to make a difference. Civic literacy empowers citizens with understanding and influence.
There are growing concerns about the decline in civic literacy across the nation. Multiple studies by respected organizations - including the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, American Council of Trustees and Alumni, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation - reveal significant gaps in Americans' knowledge of government, history, and constitutional rights.
Civic illiteracy is leading to an increasingly fractured society with ever greater hostility toward our fellow countrymen. America's 250th is a unique opportunity to rededicate ourselves to the founding principles that unite us - principles that made America the most free and prosperous country in the history of the world!
Among other things, civic literacy includes understanding our founding documents and the principles behind them. By taking these three quizzes you're going to discover how simple they are!
"If you're anything like me, civics and history were horribly boring in public school. It consisted of memorizing a bunch of meaningless names and dates. I wasn't taught critical thinking or given the reason Why. When you learn Why, it suddenly becomes interesting and applicable." -Chris Stevens, Founder and Director of Cochise Strong
Father of the Revolution Samuel Adams is widely credited with the quote, "It does not take a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men."
