Anybody successful with seed saving? They say that buying seeds that were grown as close to your location as possible will produce better. One of the benefits of seed saving is developing plant varieties that do well in your specific conditions and microclimate.

We've not had good success with it. We try and save seeds from the plants that do best, but results the following season seem to get worse and worse. And yet our soil is getting better and better and the seeds we buy are doing better. Would love to know the secret.

Do you have a garden or are you growing any food? We haven't bought any vegetables since March - eating lots of veggies entirely out of our gardens. This spring we tried heat-tolerant varieties of cool-season crops and they are finally reaching end of harvest as the warm-season crops are starting to produce more.
